Set Your Goals is an American pop punk band with hardcore influences, active since 2004. The group originates from Orinda, United States, and is associated with San Francisco, California. Its lineup includes two vocalists and Michael Ambrose.

Overview

The band takes its name from Set Your Goals, the first album by melodic hardcore group CIV. Set Your Goals develops a sound that combines pop punk, hardcore and melodic hardcore elements, and is also described as easycore and post-hardcore.

Releases and recordings

The group releases its first EP, Set Your Goals, on Straight On Records in 2004. It later reissues the EP as Reset through Eulogy Recordings, with a vinyl edition on Panic Records. Its first full-length album, Mutiny, follows in 2006, and its second album, This Will Be the Death of Us, is released on Epitaph Records in 2009.

Set Your Goals also appears on several compilation and cover releases. It records an acoustic version of “Echoes” for Punk Goes Acoustic 2, covers The Police’s “Message in a Bottle” for its MySpace page, and covers Lil’ Jon’s “Put Yo Hood Up” for Punk Goes Crunk on Fearless Records. In 2008, the band releases a new song titled “The Fallen”.

Other activity

Set Your Goals performs as the backing band for Vinnie Caruana during a selection of The Movielife shows in the US and UK. The group also reaches a buy-out agreement with Eulogy Recordings in 2008.
