Serpent Venom

Serpent Venom is a United Kingdom doom metal group active since 2008. The band forms around guitarist Pete Fox, who also plays in Olde Crone, and brings together musicians with links to other underground metal acts.

Line-up and origins

The group starts in 2008, when Fox assembles a line-up to pursue a heavy, doom-focused sound. Drummer Paul Sutherland comes from Blood Island Raiders, vocalist Garry “Gaz” Ricketts previously sings with Sloth, and Nick handles bass duties. The band’s stated line-up credits Fox with riffs and leads, Ricketts with vocals, Sutherland with drums, and Nick with bass.

Recordings and activity

Serpent Venom signs to Church Within Records and releases Carnal Altar. The group is associated with traditional doom metal, stoner doom, and psychedelic influences, and builds a reputation for live performances that accompany the reception to its recorded material.
