Serge Santiago
Serge Santiago is a Brazilian musician associated with bossa nova, MPB and samba. He is born in Rio de Janeiro in 1946 and dies in 2013.
His career starts with work as a resident DJ at the Brighton club night Stompaphunk, where he learns how to read and work a dance floor. He then applies those skills in the studio, teaching himself to make records aimed at both underground clubs and the charts across house, disco, Italo and techno.
He also makes edits under the name Radio Slave with Matt Edwards, working on early 2000s pop and R&B tracks and reshaping material by artists including Kylie, Justin Timberlake and 50 Cent into club records. After that, he focuses more on his own music and releases tracks on Stompaphunk Music and on his own label, Acrobaleno.
His first release on Acrobaleno is Atto D’Amore, a record that remains in circulation with DJs many years after its release.
