Serani is a Jamaican dancehall artist, producer and songwriter. He is a member of the trio Daseca and is also known as Craig Marsh. Born in 1982, he works within dancehall and is associated with a run of widely played rhythms and singles in Jamaican popular music.

Career

Serani becomes known for his production work as much as for his own recordings. He creates rhythms such as Anger Management, Chaka Chaka, Dreaming, Gully Creature, Build Back and Fire Links’ Gullyside rhythm. He is also described as a musical director within Bounty Killer’s Alliance talent pool.

As a songwriter and producer, he contributes to several major dancehall and reggae tracks. His work includes the lead phrase on Sean Paul’s “We Be Burning”, as well as material for Tony Matterhorn, Busy Signal, Bugle, Elephant Man and Mavado. He contributes to Mavado’s “Dying”, where he also appears as a vocalist, and his voice is heard repeatedly on the track.

Work as an artist

Serani’s own profile as a singer grows from his production career. He appears with Mavado in the video for “Dying” and later focuses on launching a solo career. He releases “Don’t!” with his protégé Bugle, and the song gains a strong response in dancehalls in Jamaica. He also works on building a debut album and promotes “She Loves Me” as a follow-up single.
