Sera is the stage name of Karianne Stenbock, a Dutch singer-songwriter. She works in soul and pop, and is listed as a Dutch female vocalist.

Career

Sera writes songs from a young age and begins recording demos as a teenager. She performs live for several years, developing her style through extensive gigging. Her performance approach includes a strong vocal delivery and accompanying her melodies on guitar, using the body of the instrument as a percussion element.

Recordings

She records an album and an EP independently, including the album Wailing Hippie and the EP Extended Play. Wailing Hippie is connected to her experience of street busking. One of the songs, Way of Life, is written after a period when she loses her voice following emotional stress; after the voice returns, she writes the song and her producer insists that it be included on the album. The EP is engineered and co-produced with Chris Meek at DACE Studios in Swansea.

Performances and profile

Sera performs at festivals and at venues across the country, and she builds an audience through her own website. She also supports bands including Seize the Day. Her musical influences include Ani DiFranco, Woody Guthrie and Rory McLeod, and she aims to promote herself independently in the manner of those artists.
