Sephira

Sephira is an electronic artist from Saint Brélade, working in psychedelic trance and related downtempo and ambient styles. The name is also used for a separate Irish classical crossover group, but this entry refers to the UK psychedelic trance project.

Background

Sephira is Matthew Crick, based on the island of Jersey in the UK. He begins exploring psychedelic music around 2000, after attending free parties and indoor events including Liquid Connective and Tribe Of Frog. He becomes involved with Baraka, later known as Lucid, an Oxford-based psytrance collective.

Music and projects

He starts out DJing and moves into production. After returning to Jersey, he focuses on a new psy project called MerKaBa Tribe, working with Secret Dance. The project develops alongside his own Sephira output, which sits in the electronic, psychedelic and trance spectrum.

Live activity and releases

Sephira plays at festivals including Glade and Sunrise, and organises the MerKaBa Tribe stage at Vale Earth Festival as well as many MerKaBa parties. His first album, Imagination In Motion, is available free from Ektoplazm.
