Sensient

Sensient is the recording name of Tim Larner, a psytrance act from Melbourne, Australia. He concentrates on music from the age of 12 and first plays drums in various funk and fusion bands before discovering psytrance at 19, which leads him towards electronic production. He later buys his first computer and begins exploring sound creation, developing a style that he describes through its deep, groovy, progressive psy feel.

Music style and career

His music places strong emphasis on atmosphere and groove, and aims to leave space for the listener to interpret it freely rather than presenting an overpowering arrangement. The project is associated with progressive trance, psytrance and zenonesque, and is based in Melbourne. Sensient becomes known for live performances at major trance festivals and for a catalogue that includes solo albums, compilation tracks and other releases across the scene.

Releases

Sensient's debut album, Blue Neevus, is released on Tatsu Records in 2003. He goes on to release three solo albums in total, along with numerous tracks for compilations. Other named releases include Pressure Optimal on Zenon Records in 2005 and AntiFluoro on Zenon Records in 2006.

Zenon Records

Many Moons ago, Sensient founds Zenon Records. The label develops into an influential trance label and becomes associated with mentoring emerging acts and promoting underground producers from Australia and beyond. It also helps shape a wider musical movement that influences the trance and festival scene.
