Seize The Day
Seize The Day is a British folk group formed in 1997 by singer-songwriters Theo Simon and Shannon Smy. The band performs as a five- to eight-piece acoustic act and has strong environmentalist and political themes in its songs.
The group releases albums including All Hands That Are Ready, The Tide Is Turning, Alive and PondLife Primer. Their work is associated with activism, and they are known for songs that address issues such as the war in Iraq.
Seize The Day plays at Glastonbury Festival every year and appears at many other folk festivals, as well as touring internationally. Band members also take part in protests and demonstrations, including those against GM crops and the construction of new nuclear power plants.
The band has also drawn attention in connection with the BBC Radio 3 audience poll for the World Music Awards, which it won but did not receive the award because of its anti-war songs.
