Seinabo Sey
Seinabo Sey is a Swedish singer from Stockholm, born in 1990. She has Swedish and West African ancestry. She is associated with electropop, pop and soul, and her work also connects to experimental and electro styles.
Early life and education
Sey is born in Södermalm, Stockholm. She moves to Halmstad at the age of eight to attend Östergårdsskolans music programme for musically gifted teenagers. At sixteen, she returns to Stockholm and later graduates from Fryshuset’s esthetics programme with a focus on soul music.
Career
She first releases the track Sunshine in October 2012. Working with producer Magnus Lidehäll, she follows with the single Younger in 2013, then Hard Time and Pistols at Dawn in 2014.
EP release
In 2014, Sey releases the EP for Madeleine, which is dedicated to her mother and named after her. The EP is produced by Lidehäll and includes writing contributions from Salem Al Fakir, Oscar Linnros and Vincent Pontare, as well as Sey herself. Alongside earlier singles, it features You and River.
