Secret Shine

Secret Shine is a Bristol dream pop, indie pop, indie rock and shoegaze group, active from 1991 to the present. It forms in November 1990 in Bristol, United Kingdom, when vocalist Jamie Gingell and former Panda Pops guitarist Scott Purnell start the project under the name Amelia's Dream. The pair record a three-song demo and send it to Sarah Records, which agrees to release the single After Years in autumn 1991.

Another single, Unbearable, appears around the same time on the German label A Turntable Friend. By then the group has renamed itself Secret Shine and expands to a quintet with bassist Paul Vowles, drummer Nick Dyte and Purnell's guitarist brother Dean. Ephemeral follows on Sarah in spring 1992.

After vocalist Kathryn Smith joins, Secret Shine releases Loveblind, the band's only single to reach the UK Indie Top 20. The full-length album Untouched appears in 1993. For the follow-up, the Greater Than God EP, Dyte takes over bass duties from Vowles and Tim Morris becomes the new drummer. The group reforms in 2006.
