Seb Marx

Seb Marx is a London-based techno producer and live performer who sets up Gush Records in 2009 as a digital outlet for his own music. He comes through the London techno scene and builds a reputation as one of the more distinctive live acts on the European underground.

Music and production

His production is rooted in techno but ranges across electro, minimal, dubstep and house. He works with Ableton and Logic, and his tracks often use vocal samples and synths alongside percussive, groove-led rhythms. The music is described as fast-paced and bass-heavy, with a darker edge balanced by elements of funk and upbeat, disco-influenced energy.

Earlier playing experience

Before focusing on electronic music, he plays guitar, drums and bass in garage punk bands across Europe. That background shapes his later work, especially the emphasis on live energy, rhythm and movement.

Gush Records acts as the digital home for his output and includes a broad range of styles. The label reflects his interest in varied club forms, with tracks moving from deep, Detroit-influenced grooves to cut-and-paste house and tougher techno sounds.
