He forms part of the Sean Webster Band, with Java also listed as a member, and the group is active on the British blues and rock scene. The band forms in 2003 and builds a following in the UK and Europe.

Early releases and style

Webster releases his debut album, Long Time Coming, in 2004. The record brings the band wider attention and draws notice for his guitar playing, which blends influences including Albert Collins, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Gary Moore and Stevie Ray Vaughan. His singing is described as having a deep, rich tone, and has been compared to Joe Cocker, Bryan Adams and Jonny Lang.

Reception and live work

British blues magazine Blues Matters! describes the debut album as a gem and highlights Webster’s guitar work. In 2005, the band plays many live dates across the UK, including main stage appearances at Burnley Festival, Maryport Festival and the Great British R&B Festival in Colne. Organisers at the Colne festival describe Webster as an emerging artist with powerful vocals and strong guitar work.

Further recordings and radio

His second CD, If Only, expands the band’s blues approach and reaches a wider audience, including younger listeners. It also attracts attention from Tony Edser, editor of Where’s Eric!, the official Eric Clapton magazine, which names Webster as one to watch. A live session for the Paul Jones show on BBC Radio 2 is broadcast in 2006, bringing his music to a larger radio audience. His music also receives airplay on stations in Bosnia, Canada, Spain, France and Germany.

Later plans and international dates

Webster continues to perform regularly in the UK and plans dates in Chicago and in several Texas cities, including Dallas, Houston, Galveston and Austin. A live album is already recorded, and studio time is booked for a further studio album.
