Sea Bass Kid

Sea Bass Kid are a multi-cultural seven-piece band based in Edinburgh. They play a mix of ska, funk and rock, and the band describes this as “Spaghetti Eastern”. Their music is marked by a colourful, unusual style, with live performances that rely on group chemistry and showmanship to create an intimate and friendly atmosphere.

Recording and release

The band’s debut album is recorded and prepared for release. It is recorded by Andy Duncan, who is associated with Edinburgh band Miyagi. The recording takes place in an abandoned church in the Leith area of Edinburgh, using a vintage tape machine salvaged from the BBC. The album keeps an analogue warmth and includes a few unexplained background noises that remain on the recording.

Live activity

Sea Bass Kid perform regularly across Scotland. Their live appearances include shows alongside Big Fat Panda, Kid Caneveral, and Victorian Trout Conspiracy. The band also plays the Kelburn Garden Party, on the same bill as Mr Scruff.
