Scunner

Scunner are a Glasgow, Scotland-based act described as playing post-glam cabaret stagecore. Their line-up centres on Paul Puppet, with The Lunatic Engineer on guitar and keyboard. During 2006 and 2007, the group also works with a changing set of additional players referred to as Scunnerettes, including percussionists Rowan and Biz, who replaces The Urban Fairy, and Mrjonthehat on bass and banjo. A more permanent line-up later forms with Andy Red on drums and J J Mills on electric bass and keyboard.

The band’s sound shifts between fragile passages and much denser, louder arrangements. Their album String Theory appears in 2006 on Spangled Records. It is associated with a review that highlights its playfulness, intensity, upbeat material and forceful vocals.
