Scratcha DVA, also known as Leon Smart, is a UK producer and DJ from the United Kingdom associated with UK funky, grime and dubstep. He presents a regular breakfast show on Rinse and makes records that place him within the UK funky scene and related bass-music styles.

Career

He was formerly involved with the grime crew Aftershock, alongside Terror Danjah and others. He later focuses on solo production and develops a sound that moves UK funky toward more abstract, deeper territory, with bass-led rhythms, melodic dubstep elements, playful grooves and techno-influenced textures.

Releases and labels

Scratcha DVA issues records on Hyperdub, the label run by Kode9, and on his own DVA imprint. He is noted for a run of well-regarded releases across these labels.
