Scott Attrill, also known as Vinylgroover, is a UK hard dance and tech trance DJ and producer. He works under a number of aliases and project names, including Midas, Elevate, Techno-Phobic, 3rd Source, Kontakt and The Collective.

Career

Attrill builds his reputation as a DJ and producer in the hard dance scene, with a long-running presence in the UK and overseas. He tours internationally and plays regular UK dates, and he appears at club nights and superclubs such as Goodgreef, Tranzaction, Air in Birmingham, The Honeyclub in Brighton and The Arches in Glasgow.

He also heads line-ups at major festivals and events, including WEMF in Canada, where he appears no fewer than five times, The Tidy Weekender, Universe in the UK, and World Dance at Wembley Arena. His performance history also includes clubs and venues in Ibiza, Washington, Los Angeles, Japan, Finland, Germany, South Africa, Turkey and Taiwan, as well as tours in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

Production work and labels

Attrill records for a range of labels, including Nukleuz, Nu-Life, Positiva, Sony, Split, BMG, London (ffrr), Tidy Trax and Ministry. He has eleven releases on Nukleuz and oversees production work on the Kontakt club track “Show Me a Sign” for Nu-Life. That release receives Radio 1 playlist support and its remix reaches number 19 in the UK Top 40.

He also establishes Obsession Music as an independent dance label, and in 2005 he starts Traffic Records with his production partner Jim, known as Jim the Red Hed. Attrill later takes sole control of Traffic, which then merges with Riot! Recordings alongside BK and Ed Real.

Recognition and support

His tracks receive support from a wide range of DJs and producers, including Marco V, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell, BK, Scot Project, Anne Savage, Rob Tissera, Lisa Lashes, Paul van Dyk and the Tidy Boys. He is described in dance press quotes as being at the forefront of hard dance and as one of the strongest artists in the scene.
