Scanone
Scanone is the London-based DJ and producer Jude Greenaway. His work centres on twisted breakbeats, crisp electronic edits, cinematic harmonies and London bass lines, and he is associated with dubstep, breakbeat, bass, electro and experimental dubstep.
Style and background
Greenaway’s background in visual editing shapes the way his tracks are put together, giving them a detailed and tightly constructed feel. His sound is described through dark, bass-heavy dancefloor electronics, with a strong connection to the London scene.
Releases and label work
His 7th Bullet EP appears in autumn 2004 and gains support within electro circles. The track “Kik It” comes before the electro/grime crossover by about a year, while “YesYes” and “Dubwise” also receive radio support. “YesYes” is a 2-step electro track, and “Dubwise” is a dubstep/electro crossover piece.
Later releases include the two-part toolkit series, with part 1 on Combat and part 2 appearing later in 2007. He also has “Mr Tant” scheduled as a download release, and a three-track EP called Corrupt EP on Digital Distortions. He is also linked with Yellow Machines.
Performances and support
Scanone performs at London venues including Fabric, Wang, Bass Invader and Herbal, and also appears further afield at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco and the Guggenheim in Bilbao. BBC Breezeblock supports some of his tracks.
