Scanners

Scanners are a London-based UK alternative rock and indie rock group active since 2004. The band consists of Amina Bates, Sarah Daly, Tom Hutt and Matthew Mole. Earlier line-up details name Sarah on vocals, bass and violin, Mat on guitar, vocals and synth, Amina on guitar and keys, and Harry on drums.

Career

The band signs to Dim Mak, the indie label run by DJ and label owner Steve Aoki. They appear on NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly and are also mentioned in a Perez Hilton feature under the title “Perez Pushes The Scanners”.

Recordings and releases

Scanners release their debut album Violence is Golden in 2006 in the US and in 2008 in the UK. Their second album, Submarine, is co-produced with Stephen Hague and appears in 2009; its singles include “Salvation” and “Baby Blue”. The album Love is Symmetry follows in 2013.

Media use and later work

The band’s music is used in the US television series Life, Gossip Girl, Entourage, One Tree Hill and Arrow, as well as in the films Mamma's Boy, Cry of the Owl and Endgame, and in a Renault car advert. Their track “Raw” becomes a cult favourite among EA NHL ice hockey players. Sarah Daly and Matthew Mole also collaborate with composer Ruth Fox on a project called Symphony of Salt.
