Say Sue Me are a four-piece indie pop and indie rock band from Busan, South Korea. Formed in 2012, they describe their music as surf rock and draw on a range of 1990s indie rock styles, although they are also often associated with shoegaze.

Releases

The band releases its first album, We’ve Sobered Up, and an EP, Big Summer Night. A compilation album titled Say Sue Me collects earlier releases and adds a bonus track on CD. That compilation is released by Damnably Records, with distribution through Damnably in Europe and North America and via Electric Muse in Asia.

Style and language

Lead singer Sumi Choi prefers to sing in English, though some tracks are in Korean. The band’s sound is associated with surf rock, indie rock, indie pop and shoegaze, with guitar work by Byungkyu Kim noted for its reverb-heavy textures and shadowed, interior detail.

Critical reception

In coverage of Where We Were Together, the band is described as working best on familiar, wistful progressions shaped by Kim’s guitar playing.
