Sasami is a Los Angeles-based American musician, composer and producer. Born in 1990, she is raised primarily in Los Angeles and has a multicultural background: her mother is ethnically Korean and born in Japan, while her father is of Western descent.
Education and early work
She studies French horn and music education at the Eastman School of Music, graduating in 2012. After returning to Los Angeles, she works in several roles, including scoring films and commercials, arranging and performing horns and strings on studio albums, teaching music, and performing with orchestras and rock bands.
Cherry Glazerr and solo career
In the mid-2010s, Sasami joins the rock band Cherry Glazerr as a keyboardist and synth player, touring and recording with the group before beginning her solo career. Her self-titled debut album, Sasami, is released by Domino Recording Company and features material she writes, arranges and produces largely herself, combining classical training with indie rock and shoegaze-influenced textures.
Later albums and musical style
Her second album, Squeeze, appears in 2022 and moves toward heavier rock and industrial-metal influences. Her third studio album, Blood on the Silver Screen, is released in 2025 and broadens her sound further into pop and collaborative production. Across her work, she plays vocals, guitar, keyboards and French horn, and is known for moving between orchestral composition, indie rock, shoegaze and more pop-oriented material.
Collaborative work
Alongside her solo records, she contributes horn and string parts, arrangements and production to other artists’ albums, and has a reputation within the Los Angeles music community as both a collaborator and a solo artist.
