Sarin

Sarin is the name used by several different bands and projects in noise, black metal, shoegaze, emo, sludge and industrial music. The name is attached to acts from the United States, Belgium, Indonesia, Germany and Canada, with each project active in a different style and scene.

Noise and experimental project

One Sarin project is a noise and experimental collaboration from Seattle, Washington, formed by Edgy 59 and Stephen O’Malley, both of whom are associated with Burning Witch. Its only release is the cassette album Nihilist, issued in a small edition of 80 copies on Slaughter Productions. Other recordings exist but remain unreleased. Edgy 59 later continues noise work under the name SPHELTER.

Other acts using the name

Another Sarin is a black metal band from Belgium whose first demo, Dead For An Eternity, is released through Sandstorm in 2007. There is also an experimental and ambient shoegaze band from Jakarta, Indonesia, and an old emo/punk band from the United States that releases a 7-inch. In Germany, Sarin is a black metal band from Bavaria, founded in 1997.

Canadian projects

In Ontario, Canada, Sarin is a sludge and experimental metal band whose members are D. Wilson, A. Hara, M. Dakers and A. Salmon. Its 2017 album Darker Lakes is available for download. A separate Sarin from Toronto, Canada works in industrial, electro and EBM, and its debut album Rotten is released on Deth Records.
