Samuel Seo

Samuel Seo is the stage name of Seo Dong-hyeon (서동현), a South Korean singer-songwriter, rapper and record producer from Seoul. He is also known as Seo Samuel (서사무엘).

Background

Seo is born in 1991 and grows up in South Korea, as well as spending part of his youth in Japan, the United States and Canada. He begins as an aspiring pianist, but hearing hip hop in his teens leads him towards that genre. He is identified as a Korean rapper and is associated with Sound Providers of Korea.

Releases and recognition

Before his albums, Seo releases a series of singles and also serves two years in military service. His first studio album, Frameworks, appears in 2015 and wins Best R&B & Soul Album at the Korean Music Awards in 2016. His second album, Ego Expand (100%), follows in May of the same year and receives nominations for Best R&B & Soul Album and Best R&B & Soul Song, the latter for its lead single “B L U E”.
