SambaYaBamba

SambaYaBamba is a Brazilian percussion group that begins as a community arts project in 1996 and continues to run regular workshops for beginners in Brazilian percussion. It performs across the UK, from Aberdeen to Brighton, and also appears several times in Europe.

The group’s repertoire covers a range of Brazilian percussion styles, including Rio-style samba batucada, samba reggae, maracatu and other styles from north-east Brazil. It also works with contemporary influences such as drum and bass, hip hop and bhangra, and includes original material.

The band develops a distinctive performance style over time and adds a horn section to its line-up, expanding the group’s live sound.
