Sam Hunt
Sam Hunt is an American country singer, songwriter and former college football player from McKinney. He also works as a producer and audio engineer. His music sits within country, pop, bro-country and country pop, and he is known for writing for other artists as well as recording his own material.
Career
Hunt writes singles for Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and Billy Currington. He co-writes Kenny Chesney’s 2012 song “Come Over”, which brings him an ASCAP award. He also writes Keith Urban’s “Cop Car” and Billy Currington’s “We Are Tonight”, both released as singles in 2014.
He independently releases “Raised on It” in September 2013 and later makes a free 15-song mixtape, Between the Pines, available through his website in October 2013. In January 2014 he signs with MCA Nashville. That year he releases the four-track EP X2C as a preview of his first studio album.
Montevallo
Hunt’s debut album, Montevallo, is released in 2014. It includes the country airplay number one singles “Leave the Night On” and “Take Your Time”, along with his own version of “Cop Car”. “Leave the Night On” becomes his first single for MCA Nashville and is certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album reaches number 1 on Top Country Albums and number 3 on the Billboard 200.
Live work
After Montevallo is released, Hunt announces the Lipstick Graffiti tour, which sells out many venues shortly after tickets go on sale. In 2015 he appears as the opening act on Lady Antebellum’s Wheels Up tour.
