Salim-Sulaiman
Salim-Sulaiman are an Indian Hindi music director and singer duo made up of brothers Salim Merchant and Suleman Merchant. Active since 1992, they work in Bollywood and other Indian popular music contexts, and are known for composing and producing film music, background scores, television commercials and songs for other performers.
Film music
They compose for Hindi films and score music for a range of productions including Chak De India, Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, Bhoot, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Matrubhoomi, Hum Tum and Dhoom. Before writing songs, they also compose background scores, and they are particularly associated with background music for horror films.
Other work and collaborations
Alongside film work, they compose for Indi-pop artists including Viva, Asmaan, Shweta Shetty, Jasmine and Style Bhai. They also produce television commercials and collaborate with musicians such as Ustad Zakir Hussain and Ustad Sultan Khan.
Breakthrough and later projects
Their first major film break comes when Karan Johar asks them to compose the music for Kaal. After that, they work with directors and producers including Yash Chopra, Subhash Ghai and Ram Gopal Varma.
