Saint Sister

Saint Sister are a Dublin-based duo formed in 2014, made up of Gemma Doherty and Morgan MacIntyre. They work in electronic folk, also described by the group as “atmosfolk”, combining elements of folk, indie folk and electronic music.

Style and influences

Their sound draws on early Celtic harp traditions, 1960s folk and electronic pop. It centres on vocal harmonies, synth textures and electro-acoustic harp.

Early activity

After their first televised performance in Ireland, they support Arcade Fire’s Will Butler at Whelan’s. They also support San Fermin and tour Ireland with Dublin band Spies. Later, they begin recording their debut EP with Alex Ryan, who is bassist with Hozier, and release it on Trout Records.

Live work

Saint Sister continue to perform with other acts, including Wyvern Lingo and O Emperor on an Irish tour, and they play their first London showcase with promoter Parallel Lines.
