SAFETY TRANCE is the alias of Luis Garbán, a Venezuelan electronic producer born in 1981 and based in Barcelona. He is also known as Cardopusher, and works across experimental electronic and Latin-influenced styles.
Career
Before using the Safety Trance name, Garbán releases music as Cardopusher. Under that name, he issues three full-length albums on Murder Channel, Peace Off and Tigerbeat6, and a number of EPs on Shockout, True Tiger, Ad Noiseam, Lo Dubs, Spectraliquid and Hyperdub. His work moves across different strands of electronica and is associated with deconstructed club and neoperreo as well as broader Latin electronic and experimental electronic scenes.
He appears under the Safety Trance name on Arca’s mixtape ±±±±±, with the tracks “Un Alma Sentenciada” and “Untitled”. He later releases his first official Safety Trance single, “El Alma Que Te Trajo”, featuring Arca.
Recognition
His work attracts wider attention in 2009, when Fact Magazine names him as one of its producers to watch.
