Sacred Mother Tongue

Sacred Mother Tongue are a UK metal group active from 2004 to 2013. Their line-up includes Darrin South on vocals, Andy James on guitar, Josh Gurner on bass and Lee Newell on drums. Their sound sits within alternative metal, heavy metal and metal, with the wider descriptions given to them also placing them in metalcore, melodic metalcore and melodic death metal.

Career and releases

The band’s current line-up is in place from 2008. They build their reputation through extensive touring, festival appearances and support slots with Anthrax and Fear Factory. Their debut full-length album, The Ruin Of Man, comes out in 2009 and is noted for its mix of heavy riffing, melodic vocal hooks and Andy James’s guitar work.

Their second studio album, Out Of The Darkness, follows four years later and reflects a more mature writing approach. Darrin South draws its lyrics from a period of depression and personal change, and the album includes the tracks Demons, A Light Will Shine, Evolve Become, Pawn, The City Is Crying, Just A Ride and Believe. It is produced with Scott Atkins.
