Sachi Hayasaka is a Japanese saxophonist associated with experimental and contemporary jazz. She is based in Sendai, Japan. She begins playing saxophone in junior high school and later studies jazz and classical saxophone at university. After graduating, she forms her own group.

Career

Hayasaka often performs with Yosuke Yamashita Panja Orchestra and Yoshiaki Fujikawa Eastasia Orchestra. She is described as one of Japan’s most original and creative musicians, with playing that draws on cross-cultural and historical references.

Recordings and collaborations

She records with Japanese pianists Yosuke Yamashita and Satoko Fuji and releases several solo discs in Japan. Her collaborations also include Peter Kowald, Ned Rothenberg, Wadada Leo Smith and Mal Waldron.
