Russell Swallow and the Wolf
Russell Swallow and the Wolf are a duo made up of a Suffolk man and an Australian woman. They play songs centred on everyday passions, extraordinary moments and unsung heroes, and their sound combines acoustic guitar, piano and vocal harmonies.
Releases and style
Their self-released debut EP, Sunrise Mountain, appears in June 2012. The group’s music is described as using driven and fingerpicked acoustic guitar alongside mercurial piano and blended vocal harmonies. A later single is Paper Aeroplanes.
Live work and recognition
After the release of Sunrise Mountain, they support Dodgy, Will and the People, Sweet Billy Pilgrim and Jools Holland’s Band. Their performance at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival receives a five-star review and leads to an invitation to play in the BBC’s EdFringe tent.
Following activity
They are working on a follow-up record and plan a UK and European tour in 2013.
