Russell Brand

Russell Brand is a comedian, actor, podcaster and media personality from Grays, United Kingdom. Born in 1975, he first establishes himself as a stand-up comedian and radio host before moving into film acting.

He is known for a career that draws sustained media attention, including coverage of his public behaviour, drug use, political views, dismissal from MTV and resignation from the BBC after a prank call controversy. From 2013, he also becomes known as a public activist and campaigner, speaking on political and cultural issues. His views shift over time, moving from an initially liberal position to a more right-wing stance during the COVID period.

In 2023, five women publicly accuse him of sexual assault and of sexual and emotional abuse. He is later charged with multiple counts of rape, oral rape, indecent assault and sexual assault. In 2025, he is also reported as the subject of a civil action in New York state relating to an allegation of sexual assault during filming of Arthur in 2010.
