Runic

Runic is a Spanish metal group from Castellón, active from 2000. The band forms in 2001 in the bio, but the documented origin and active status place it in Spain and ongoing from 2000 onward. It is associated with viking metal, folk metal, melodic death metal, pagan metal and black metal, and its sound also receives descriptions as epic death metal.

Style and themes

The group uses medieval instruments including bagpipe and hurdy-gurdy alongside standard rock instrumentation. Its songs often take pagan tales and fantasy as subject matter, which places it within the broader viking and pagan metal tradition.

Releases

Runic issues a demo titled Awaiting The Sound Of The Unavoidable in the same year it forms. It later releases the album Liar Flags on Erzebet Records in 2006.
