Ruckspin

Ruckspin is the performing name of Dom Howard, a classically trained composer, producer and DJ working in dubstep, liquid funk and pop. He is associated with the labels Ranking, Pushing Red, Tectonic, Transistor and Exceptional.

Work as producer and DJ

He performs internationally and appears at festivals and events around the world. In the UK, he plays club nights including Valve Soundsystem, New Bohemia and Exodus. His production work is described in the release list through a long run of tracks, remixes and collaborations across the 2000s and early 2010s.

Collaborations and projects

He works on several projects, including Submotion Orchestra, Cymatic and a live collaboration with Jack Sparrow under the name Author. He is also credited on releases with Quark, Planas, Quantum Soul, DLR, Medison, Visionz, Reso, Lavellian and others, and features guest appearances from Foreign Beggars, Durrty Goodz, Virus Syndicate, Ras Spear and Rouge a Levres.

His catalogue includes Jibber / Get Naked, Heart Murmur / All Night, Sunshine / Horns 2008, Miserere / Arigato, Captain Hawkeye / Anger, Ceaseless / Winds of Change and The Lost EP. He also appears on Safe & Secure with DLR, Bank Job with Medison featuring Foreign Beggars and Durrty Goodz, and Dread with Jack Sparrow. His remix work includes versions of tracks by Gentleman’s Dub Club, Middleman, Alabama 3, Dub from Atlantis and Quantum Soul.

Compilations and reception

He features on compilation tracks including Oxygen on This is Dubstep vol.2 and Dread on This is Dubstep 2011. Reviews and comments attached to his work describe strong production and note his place in bass music circles.
