Rubik
Rubik is a Finnish indie pop and rock band from Kuopio, Finland. The group is active from 2003 to 2013 and includes Artturi Taira and Sampsa Väätäinen among its members.
The band forms in the early 2000s and builds an early reputation in the Finnish music scene around its debut album, Bad Conscience Patrol, which appears after an earlier mini-album already sells out. The album arrives in March 2007 and enters the Finnish charts at number seven. It also produces the single “City & the Streets”, which becomes the band’s first hit.
Rubik is described as an indie rock act with a sound that draws comparisons to Radiohead, Sigur Rós and dEUS. Their work sits within indie, indie rock, alternative and alternative rock, with the broader classification of rock.
In 2007 the band tours Finland, the UK and Germany and appears at festivals including Hultsfred, South by Southwest, Transmission and Eurosonic. It also shares stages with Mogwai, Autechre, Apostle of Hustle and Disco Ensemble.
