RSVP

RSVP is a name used in more than one musical context. It is associated with Radio Scotvoid Productions, an experimental electronica project formed in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1999, and it is also the title of a band formed to perform material from Richard Sinclair’s 1994 album.

Radio Scotvoid Productions

As Radio Scotvoid Productions, also called RSVP, the project works in experimental electronica. It is based around arranging and performing original music using minimal computer technology, sample-based software, old microphones and budget keyboards, with additional help from local session musicians. The project collects homemade audio and field recordings gathered during travel in Spain, Scotland and the United States.

Since 1999, Radio Scotvoid has organised Curios events, mixed local North Shore music podcasts for MYSCENELIVE.com, and DJed on WMWM 91.7FM, the Salem State College radio station. It has self-produced and released two electronica EPs. The project’s website is radioscotvoid.com.

The artist behind this project is born and raised in Falkirk, Scotland.

The band

RSVP is also the name of a band formed to play music from Richard Sinclair’s album released in 1994. The band gives a brief tour in that year before Richard Sinclair takes a break from music. The album is widely regarded as one of the stronger Canterbury releases of the decade and is presented as the successor to Caravan of Dreams.

Name

The name RSVP comes from the French phrase “Répondez s’il vous plaît”, meaning “Please respond”.
