Rotary Club is an American punk band from Reno, Nevada. It is the project of NYC singer-songwriter and guitarist Tom Devaney, who works with a changing line-up of musicians.

The group includes ex-Pere Ubu bassist Tony Maimone among its rotating personnel. Maimone produces both of Rotary Club’s albums at Studio G in Brooklyn. The band’s releases are 2007’s Vis-a-vis and 2011’s Second Year In Swine.

Rotary Club’s sound is described in terms that bring together American roots music and rock, with one comparison linking it to Leadbelly, Charlie Patton and Skip James playing with the Band on Meat Puppets material. Maimone also describes Devaney’s songs as having “a Syd Barrett thing going on,” while still sounding distinctly American.

The band receives praise for its records from music press and collaborators alike, with comments describing the songs as passionate, catchy and subtly quirky, and calling the project one of the best records Maimone has played on.
