Rory Connor is a singer from the small mining town of Alston in the North Pennines. Rory has been writing and performing his own compositions since the age of 13 and has steadily gained a loyal following across the North of England. After recording a demo E.P in 2007 with Realworld producer Richard Evans he set up a band to take on the road. This band, which includes former members of folk band Tarras and Rory’s previous band Zeus, played a selection of festivals and gigs across Britain. One of the highlights was headlining Solfest’s Drystone stage and playing Brampton folk festival as well as getting airplay on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio Cumbria and BBC Radio 2. Recently, he was asked to join a revived line up of Tarras and jumped at the chance. Rory, with Tarras went on to play such festivals as Bromyard folk festival and North Devon folk festival appearing on the same bill as Seth Lakeman, Bellowhead and Eddi Reader. Along with playing solo gigs and gigs with Tarras, Rory has been busy recording his debut album with producer Joss Clapp. The record has a more energetic fuller sound to previous recordings and is set to be released mid 2009.
