Ron Sexsmith is a Canadian singer-songwriter from St. Catharines, Ontario, and is based in Toronto. Born in 1964, he is associated with folk pop and singer-songwriter traditions.

Career

Sexsmith starts his first band at 14. After moving to Toronto, he forms the Uncool and releases the cassette Out of the Duff, followed a year later by There’s a Way. While working as a courier, he also releases Grand Opera Lane in 1991. That record leads to a contract and the self-titled album Ron Sexsmith in 1995.

Between 1997 and 2001, he releases three more albums, before Cobblestone Runway appears in 2002. He is known for melody, understated lyrics, and an expressive voice, and is often described as a songwriter admired by other songwriters.
