Romain Virgo

Romain Virgo is a Jamaican reggae and lovers rock artist. Born in 1990, he comes to prominence after winning Digicel Rising Stars in Jamaica in 2007, where he becomes the youngest contestant to take the title at the time. His profile grows through a string of releases and live appearances in Jamaica and beyond.

Early recognition

Virgo stands out in the 2007 competition for his singing and is described as outperforming many of his rivals. His win gives him a strong platform in Jamaican music and draws attention outside the island as well.

Recording and performances

Among the songs associated with this period are Can't Sleep, which climbs the Jamaican charts, along with Love Doctor on the Automatic riddim and Wanna Go Home, both of which receive radio play. He also performs at notable Jamaican events and venues, including Tony Rebel's Rebel Salute 2009, Passa Passa in Tivoli Gardens, and Weddy Weddy at Stone Love's headquarters in Kingston.

Training and collaborations

Virgo studies for a five-year bachelor's degree in performance at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, with a major in voice and a minor in keyboard. He works with producer Donovan Germain of Penthouse Music and Dawin Brown of Vikings Sounds.
