Roisin O'Hagan

Roisin O'Hagan is a singer-songwriter from the United Kingdom, based in Chelmsford, Essex. She writes and performs her own songs and plays guitar as her main instrument, as well as piano and some mandolin. Her name is Irish in origin and is pronounced with an initial sound like “machine” but with an “r” instead of the first letter.

Early musical activity

She sings and writes songs, and has been doing so for some time before taking up guitar in February 2012. After that she continues to perform regularly and begins gigging locally at the start of 2013. She plays at gigs frequently, often around once a week, and appears at local festivals.

Recording and collaborations

Since January 2012, she records original material in a professional studio in Suffolk with producer, musician and friend David Booth. Some of these recordings appear on her SoundCloud page. She also writes soundtrack material, including a song for the young-adult novel Crewel.

Recognition

Her early work receives a local award for Best Newcomer on the local music scene. She also writes interviews for The Guardian.
