Rogues
Rogues is a weird-pop quintet from Harrow and Aberystwyth, active since 2008. The group combines new wave atmospherics with upbeat dance grooves and is described as making ethereal pop music. Its line-up consists of three brothers and two drifters: Pearse MacIntyre on guitar and vocals, Sam James on guitar and vocals, Frog MacIntyre on bass and vocals, Patrick Fraser Stansbie on keys and vocals, and Thomas MacIntyre on drums.
Early activity and releases
The band forms in the summer of 2008 and quickly builds attention through its live shows. It receives radio play from Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy and Huw Stephens, and also performs a live session for BBC Radio 1 with Steve Lamacq. Its first release is Not So Pretty, a limited 300-copy release on 50 Bones in early 2009.
Context
The name Rogues is also used by several other groups, including an Oi!/punk band from Detroit, a metalcore band from Syracuse, and an indie band from Fresno. The UK Rogues entry here is the indie/electro/pop act from Harrow and Aberystwyth.
