Roger McGough
Roger McGough is a Liverpool poet who first gains recognition in the 1960s as part of the Mersey Sound group of poets. He is also associated with sound poetry and English literature.
Scaffold and music work
He forms Scaffold with Mike McGear and John Gorman. The group has a number one hit in 1968 with Lily The Pink. McGough also takes part in Yellow Submarine and in the Beatles spoof All You Need Is Cash, which follows the fictional band The Rutles.
Books and adaptations
In 1967, he publishes Summer With Monika, and in 1978 he releases a musical version of that work.
