Rogê

Rogê, born Roger José Cury, is a Brazilian singer, composer and instrumentalist from Rio de Janeiro. His work draws on samba, bossa nova and reggae, and his songs often focus on Brazilian culture and social life. He is known for combining traditional elements with a contemporary approach, and for a vocal style described as warm and expressive.

Career

He begins releasing music independently in 2000 with his first CD. Over time, he builds a discography that reaches ten albums, including Curyman II. His music is rooted in the cultural influences of Brazil, with a strong connection to Rio de Janeiro.

Songwriting and collaborations

Rogê co-writes Rio de Janeiro’s theme song for the 2016 Olympics, Os deuses do Olimpo visitam o Rio de Janeiro, alongside Arlindo Cruz and Arlindo Neto. He also performs with a wide range of Brazilian artists, including João Bosco, Luiz Melodia, Bezerra da Silva, Arlindo Cruz, Marcelo Falcão, Duani, Marcelo D2, Moraes Moreira, Beth Carvalho and Sandra de Sá.
