Roddy Ricch is the recording name of Rodrick Wayne Moore Jr., a rapper and singer from Compton, United States. He is associated with hip hop and trap, and his label is Ricch Millionaires Only Publishing.
Early life and background
Roddy Ricch is born in 1998 and is raised in Compton, California. He also spends part of his youth living in Atlanta, Georgia. He begins rapping and singing at around eight years old and starts making beats by the time he is about 16.
Recording career
In July 2018, he releases “Die Young”, a London on da Track-produced single written on the night XXXTENTACION dies. The track is dedicated to XXXTENTACION and to the late rappers Speaker Knockerz and Lil Snoop, and its video goes on to attract significant viewing and streaming figures.
In August 2018, he releases “Ricch Forever”, produced by DJ Bugsy. Around the same period, Meek Mill previews a collaboration with him, brings him on stage at a PowerHouse concert in Philadelphia, and gives him a “Dreamchasers” chain, which leads to speculation about a possible signing to Mill’s Dreamchasers imprint.
He releases the mixtape Feed Tha Streets II in November 2018. It enters the Billboard 200 and also reaches number 36 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The mixtape includes “Die Young” and “Every Season”.
In June 2019, he appears on Mustard’s track “Ballin’”, from Mustard’s album Perfect Ten. The song becomes Mustard’s highest-charting Hot 100 single as a lead artist.
In December 2019, he releases his debut album, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, which debuts at number one on the Billboard 200. The album includes “The Box”, his highest-charting and most successful single, which reaches number one on the Hot 100, as well as “Start wit Me” featuring Gunna.
