Rocketnumbernine

Rocketnumbernine are a UK electronic and experimental instrumental duo formed by two brothers. They begin as an improvising act, with the first four years focused on live improvisation before they develop a more cross-genre sound.

Career

The duo attract the attention of Kieran Hebden, also known as Four Tet, and Gilles Peterson. They record a session for Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio 1, perform at the BBC Worldwide Awards ceremony, tour with Four Tet and Caribou, and appear with Four Tet at the Mutek Festival in Montreal. They also open for Radiohead in New York with Four Tet at Thom Yorke’s request.

Their first single is released on Kieran Hebden’s Text label and is a 14-minute track recorded in one take without overdubs. They later release another single on Soul Jazz as three self-produced tracks, also recorded in one take without overdubs. Their sound is described as drum-heavy and electronic.
