Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali

Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali is a Pakistani qawwali group formed by Rizwan Mujahid Ali Khan and Muazzam Mujahid Ali Khan, who are nephews of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and the sons of Mujahid Mubarak Ali Khan. The group continues the qawwali tradition associated with their family, performing devotional vocal music rooted in Sufi Islam.

The pair step into a musical space left by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan after his death in Pakistan in 1997. They begin performing while still teenagers, and their work is presented as a continuation of their uncle’s approach to qawwali: music intended to cross cultural, linguistic and religious boundaries while remaining grounded in its devotional form.

As a qawwali ensemble from Pakistan, the group centres on vocal performance. Their name reflects the two lead members, Rizwan and Muazzam, and the act is identified as a family project carrying forward an established qawwali lineage.
