Rise To Remain

Rise To Remain are a heavy metal and metalcore group from London, active from 2006 to 2015. The band begins as a five-piece melodic metalcore act and forms in late 2006 or early 2007 under the name Halide, initially as a side project for members who are already involved in other musical work.

Early years as Halide

The original line-up forms around Ben Tovey, Will Homer and Austin Dickinson. Within a few months the group settles into a full line-up and starts playing local shows, while also travelling around the UK to find bookings. It records two EPs, both of which gain attention through Myspace and lead to more live opportunities.

Those early shows include support slots with Biomechanical, Eternal Lord and Exit Ten, as well as DIY touring and dates with Viatrophy, Sylosis, Anterior and Malefice. The band is then offered the opening slot on the third stage at Download Festival at Donington Park, after which it changes both its line-up and its name.

Rise To Remain and touring activity

After the name change, the band becomes more active and tours with Shadows Fall, Five Finger Death Punch, The Haunted and Trivium. It also appears at Sonisphere Festival and Download Festival, and its live schedule includes support work with Korn, Bullet For My Valentine, Funeral For A Friend and Iron Maiden, along with festival appearances and headline shows across the UK and Europe.

The listed touring history also includes shows in Ireland, Sweden, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Indonesia, Bali, Melbourne, Sydney, Seoul and across the UK, as well as appearances at events such as Soundwave Festival, Hevy Festival, Camden Crawl, Camden Rocks, Rock am Ring, Rock im Park, Vans Warped Tour, Power Fest and Merthyr Rock.

Recognition and releases

On 14 June 2010, Rise To Remain receives the Metal Hammer Golden God Award for Best New Band, a prize that is voted for by a large public poll. The band is also shortlisted for Best British Newcomer at the Kerrang! Awards. It signs to EMI and releases its debut album, The City of Vultures.

After the album, bassist Joe Copcutt and drummer Pat Lundy leave the band in January 2012. Joshua Hammond and Adam Lewin join, and later Conor O’Keefe replaces Hammond. The group then records its second album.
