Rick Parfitt is a British rock musician from Woking, England, best known as the singer and rhythm guitarist in Status Quo. Born in 1948 and dying in 2016, he also uses the nicknames Rockin' Rick and “The WOMORR” (The Wild Old Man of Rock 'n' Roll).

Career

Parfitt begins his career in the early 1960s, playing in pubs and holiday camps. He joins Status Quo in 1967 when the band is looking for an additional singer. Before that, he meets future Status Quo bandmate Francis Rossi, who is then playing with Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan in The Spectres, a group that soon becomes Traffic Jam and forms part of the history leading to Status Quo.

He writes songs for Status Quo and remains with the group for 49 years. He also occasionally guests with other bands.

Solo work

Parfitt records a solo album in 1985 called Recorded Delivery, which is never released. His only solo album, Over and Out, is issued posthumously in 2018.
