Richard H. Kirk

Richard H. Kirk is an English electronic and industrial musician from Sheffield, United Kingdom. Born in 1956 and active until his death in 2021, he is best known for his work with Cabaret Voltaire, where he first comes to prominence in the 1970s and later becomes the sole member from 1994 onwards. He also maintains a long solo career alongside his band work.

Career

Kirk’s first solo release is Disposable Half Truths, which appears in 1980. His solo output increases significantly during the 1990s, and his work spans a wide range of electronic and dance-related styles. He develops a reputation for prolific output and for moving across many forms of electronic music.

Alongside Cabaret Voltaire, Kirk is associated with The Pressure Company, Acid Horse, Sweet Exorcist and XON.
