Rian Treanor is a UK-based artist and producer born in 1988, working from the north of England. His music sits within deconstructed club, electronic, footwork, glitch and IDM, and draws on experimental practice as well as club forms.
Background and practice
Treanor develops a sound practice that brings together club culture, experimental art and computer music. His work focuses on interlocking and fractured musical components, with rhythm and structure often treated in unconventional ways.
He studies with Lupo at Dubplates & Mastering in Berlin, and he also spends several years curating the Enjoy artspace in Leeds. These experiences feed into his approach, which references garage and techno alongside Fluxus and Dada cut-up techniques.
Live work and releases
Treanor focuses on solo sound works and builds musical environments for improvisation within live performances. He also signs to Annex artist agency, which handles his live bookings, and his debut release appears on The Death of Rave.
